The Adverb: general characteristics, classification, grammatical categories; the problem of referring the adjective and adverb to the same part of speech.
Meaning - proper¬ty of an action, or property of another property, or circumstances in which an action occurs. It’s a notional word expressing a non-substantive property - shows the correlation between Adv & Adj, as Adj expresses substantive property. Function: combinability with V, adj, words of adverbial nature. In sentence - different adv mod. Form: stems: sim¬ple, derived; affixes -ly , side¬ways, clockwise, homewards, a- (away). Divided into: qualitative (express immediate, inherently non-graded qualities of actions and other qualities – bitterly (with V, adj)), quantitative (words of degree – very, too, little almost (with adj)) & circumstantial: functional (words of pronominal nature - besides numerical adv they include adv of time, place, manner, cause, consequence - now, where, so, how..) & notional (adv of time (today, never), of place (near, ashore) –‘orientative’ adv. (Нарисовать, оставить место)
Cat of comparison. Adv fall into evaluative and specificative
Each comparable adv expresses cat of comp much in the same way as adj do. (qualitative, orientative can change (ashore - more ashore..).
